John E Cottingham, age 84, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023. He was born in Huntington, West Virginia on January 27, 1938 to Edwin and Mamie Cottingham (nee Rigg).
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Michael McKenzie, his grandson Michael Smith and his brother, Jerry Cottingham.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Christine Cottingham (nee Bauersfeld).
He is the father of Teresa (Greg) Wilson, Sandra (Bob) McNay and James (Rhonda) Cottingham. John is the grandfather of Bobby, Amanda, Jessica, Anastasia, Ashley, Tiffany, Katie, Christopher, Trey, Robby, Abbie, Wilhelm, Conner, Cameron and Tyler. He also has 21 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Jeff Cottingham.
His hobbies included small scale trains, Cushman scooters, old time motorcycles and flea markets. He had a long career with the US Postal Services, retiring in 2000. He spends spare time working jig saw puzzles. He is a two time US Air Force Veteran.
Visitation will be Friday, January 6, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Side Chapel, 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, (45211) from 4 PM until 6 PM. Military Services will take place at 6:00 PM. Funeral services and burial will be at a later date.
