David Lynn Newcomer

October 20, 1941 — February 20, 2023

David Lynn Newcomer, 81, of Florence, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on February 20, 2023.

He was born on October 20, 1941, in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of the late Lynn A. Newcomer and the late Elizabeth M. Jones Newcomer. He was successful in many endeavors early in life when he settled into a career with the Mead Paper Corporation where he excelled to the executive level by leveraging his insatiable love for people. He enjoyed life everywhere he lived in Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, and North Carolina. He visited many other countries, climbed mountains, and explored the coastlands of the seas. He never met a stranger. He trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as the only way to be saved and trusted in his promise to resurrect all those who believe.

Dave is survived by his brother Chuck (Deana) Newcomer of Plain City, Ohio; his son Michael Newcomer of Sanford, NC; his son Eric (Dawn) Newcomer of Carrollton, KY, with grandsons Matt (Jayna) and Nate; her daughter Julana (Jeff) Strathearn of Spring Lake, NC with grandsons Landon and Aaron. He also leaves behind many people who are better for having met him.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of fifty-seven years, Rosemary Watton Newcomer who has left a trail of glitter to follow.

A memorial service will be held on March 5, 2023 at Whites Run Baptist Church, 4690 KY HWY 36 E, Carrollton, KY 41008. There will be a brief eulogy during the regular worship service at 11:00 and a fellowship meal for everyone afterwards at about noon. Dad desired gifts to be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in lieu of flowers.
