Abrian Hill departed this world on October 22, 2020 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born on March 2, 1925 in Athens, Georgia to the late Johnnie Benson and Anna Hill.
Abrian, AKA "A.B." or "Pop" has been described by family and friends as being 'one of the most caring and giving individuals you could ever have the pleasure of meeting'. A.B. married Helen Hill and they had one son, Roy Hill. After the divorce of his first wife, Abrian married Bessie Hill, and continued to raise his son, Roy. Abrian worked as a custodian for the Farm Hotel in Cincinnati where he retired after many years of service, after which he went to work part-time on the night shift for Keller's IGA in Clifton. He stocked shelves and bailed cardboard for several years before retiring.
Abrian accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member at Union Baptist Church, in downtown Cincinnati, where he worked in the food pantry. After Bessie's death, he was married to Ruth Hill, a member of the church. A.B. and Ruth continued to be active church members. After Ruth's death, A.B. was content with his devoted friend and companion, Maxine Andrews, for many years. They both continued to support the church, and helped support each other over the years. Pop always had a good appetite for some good old southern home cooking, and Maxine prepared almost anything he asked her to cook. He loved his black-eyed peas, and cornbread.
Pop had a big heart of gold, and was a very humble man. He always treated Maxine's son, Raymond, and her daughter in law, Yvette, like his own family.
A.B. leaves to cherish his memory his son, Roy Hill; sister, Wanda Dorsey; daughter-in-law, Anna Hill; one granddaughter; two great grandsons; niece, Tabatha Greene; nephews, Tommy Dorsey, Tony Dorsey, Marlan Dorsey, Anthony Witcher; companion and friend, Maxine Andrews; Raymond Andrews; Yvette Andrews; and a host of other family and friends.
Abrian was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Dorsey Sr.; brothers, Robert Dorsey Jr. and Tommy Dorsey.
We will all miss you POP and we were blessed to have you for so long. May you rest in peace. You fought the long and hard fight, and now it's time to rest your soul.
