Almareen Williams was born in Portal, Georgia on January 11, 1942 to John and Dollie ( Riggs). When she was 15 she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to live with her sister, Erlene, and brother in-law James Lee. She attended and graduated from Hughes High School in 1960. She married the love of her life, Ernest Williams, on July 29, 1961. After 53 years of marriage, Ernest preceded her in death in September 2014. Out of this union, 3 children were born, Jacqueline Bastian, Ernest Scott Williams and Monte B. Williams (Angela).
Almareen was a member of Mt Olive Holy Temple in Lincoln Heights for over 25 years. She made her final church home at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in 2010, where she enjoyed attending with her daughter and grandson, and fellowshipping with good friends. Her faith in God was unshakeable. She was always a beacon of strength and encouragement to those in need.
Almareen worked at Partridge Meats for 20 years and then became a homemaker. One of her greatest joys after working was to be able to babysit for her grandsons and see them grow from babies to young men. Her influence on their life is obvious today.
Almareen was often called a "jack of all trades". She was a great cook, gardener, seamstress, licensed beautician—a friend to the friendless and a mother to the motherless. She did it all with a quiet grace and a sweet smile. Because of her dedication to the legacy of the family, Almareen was integral to ensuring the Munlin Family Reunions legacy continued. She was actively involved as a committee officer from the inception of the reunion to the most recent reunion in 2019. She hosted 3 reunions in Cincinnati and inspired generations to continue to share the knowledge and importance of family history. In 2019, she hosted the 50th anniversary reunion in Cincinnati. Even though she was not well, she pushed through to make the reunion a success. Shortly thereafter she took ill.
On June 23, 2020, Almareen passed away peacefully at Fairfield Place Assisted Living Senior Center. She was a beloved resident and left her special imprint on the entire staff.
Almareen lived a life that most would wish for, to be cherished and remembered for her sweetness, kindness, grace and a tremendous love for her family - immediate, extended and adopted family. If you knew her, you were touched by her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings, Walter Byrd, Albert Byrd, Carrie Mosley, Bill Byrd, Leroy Byrd and Erlene Lee. Almareen is survived by her children, Jacqueline, Ernest Scott and Monte (Angela). Grandchildren: Ethan Bastian, Evan Bastian, Amir Williams, Tahir Watson-Williams, Shirley Williams, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral Ceremony will be at 11:00 am Thursday, July 2, 2020 with a visitation from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 40 Coral Avenue, Glendale, Ohio 45246. Burial to follow at Crown Hill Memorial Park.
