CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY – Bob "Smack" Smaracko, 67, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023, at his home with his devoted son, Michael, and loving former wife, Tricia, by his side following a two-and-ahalf-year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Bob was born May 29, 1956, to Stella and Andy Smaracko and was the oldest of three boys. Raised in Belvidere, New Jersey, he graduated from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania with a degree in history. He then began an accomplished sales career with many high-tech companies including Apple Computer
where he helped roll out the first Apple Macintosh, Veritas Software, and Salesforce.
Throughout his life, Bob was a committed member of the Catholic Church. He served as an altar boy from early elementary school throughout high school. He received great joy in simply serving and giving, and he cherished his involvement with the Mary Rose Mission, St. Joe's Holy Name Men's Society, and the Padre Pio Prayer Group which he started in 2020. Perhaps it's a sign from Heaven that Bob passed on the eve of Padre Pio's Feast Day.
Bob was a friend to many and always enjoyed a good laugh and helping others. He took great pleasure working in his well-manicured yard, watching Bengals' and Reds' games, dealing out a good poker hand, and playing putt-putt during Myrtle Beach family vacations. He was active with the Villa Hills Civic Club and helped organize the Casino Nights and Fire in the Hills annual events. Yet what Bob loved most was being a dad ("Pop"), and he was very involved with Michael's many school and sporting activities.
Bob is survived by his dear mother, Stella Smaracko; son, Michael Francis Smaracko; brothers, Steve (Jacqie) Smaracko and John (Jennifer) Smaracko; former wife, Patricia Smaracko; and many loving nephews, nieces, and cousins. Bob is preceded in death by his father, Andrew Smaracko, and Godfather, Uncle Frank Kowalski.
Bob will be missed terribly, yet he will live on in the hearts of his caring son, his family, and all of those whose lives he touched.
A Rosary Prayer Service will be said on Monday, October 16, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crescent Springs, Kentucky, beginning at 3:00 P.M. with Visitation to follow from 3:30 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 6:00 P.M. followed by a celebration of life reception in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please honor Bob by perpetuating his generous acts of kindness to those in need.
