Audrey Mae Meyers

May 2, 1934 — March 27, 2025

Cincinnati

Audrey Mae Meyers (Schottmiller) passed at home peacefully 3/27/25. Survived by and beloved mother of D. Lynn Meyers (G. Roger Abel) and cherished grandmother of Lisa Branno-Penwell (Ben Penwell), chosen son Nick Ligon, dearest friend Delores Martinez, Godchild Marlene Bryant, devoted caregiver Carletta Bishop and loving “grandma” to her four-legged companions Bella and Charlie.

Preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Rosella Schottmiller, (Schoenung) daughter Kathleen, former husband Robert Meyers and four-legged buddies Amber, Nicky and Maggie.

Named The United States Secretary of the Year in 1969, Audrey went on to become the Project Manager leading the renovation of the McGuffy Reader Building located next to the Taft Museum. While she worked part time most of her adult life in real estate, she became a Broker in later years. She particularly loved finding people their first homes but hated computers. She was a proud resident of Green Township for 68 years and served on the Land Use Committee. She served on the Ethic’s Review Committee of the Board of Realtors. Audrey followed in her father’s footsteps of working for Civil Rights and Equality for women. She never backed down from a challenge. Her small stature masked the heart of a warrior.

She loved attending shows and events at Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati with her daughter Lynn and felt that those who work there were her family particularly Brian Mehring, Shannon Rae Lutz and Amy Weinstock. She was born in Over-the-Rhine and raised in North College Hill and graduated from North College Hill High School. She continued her education at Thomas More University with several classes while Lynn was also a student there.

There will be a celebration of life at Thomas More University later.

The family is deeply grateful to Grace Hospice for their compassion and care

Donations in her honor may be made to the Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati 1127 Vine Street, or the SPCA Cincinnati.
