Barbara Ann was born to Otis Thomas and Juanita Doty on November 4, 1950 in Lincoln Heights, Ohio. Barbara received her wings on December 16, 2021 at Jewish Hospital. Barbara was an attendant of CPS. She accepted Christ at a young age. She gave birth to five children. Barbara was a STNA at Summit Nursing home, as well as a Postal Service Worker. She later worked at Frisch's Restaurant and at Holiday Day Inn at the front desk. She enjoyed listening to her music, drinking wine and being in the mix of things. She never missed a beat. She would host Soul Food Sunday for her family and it would turn into a party with her dancing and singing. She was known as Mama to most, she loved life and loved her family most of all.Barbara met Orville D. Blair (deceased) with whom she birthed four children, Celeste (deceased), Deborah, Orville and Douglas. She then met Henry Palmer (deceased) with whom she had her last child, Kenneth (deceased).

Barbara raised her five children and helped raise her brother, Herman Lewis's, two oldest children, Donald and Herman Travis. Her door was always open. She was known to have a big heart. Throughout her life, she played a part in raising some of her nieces and nephews; along with her grandchildren, Tamyra Smith (Kenny), Mary, Fantasía and Dominique Lewis (Celeste); as well as her great grandson, Justin; and her grandson, Tyriq.

In her last years, Barbara took to traveling and even got on a plane for the first time. Mama most of all enjoyed life, enjoyed her family and her dog, Baby. No matter what job she held, her greatest and most fulfilling job was to be a caretaker and the glue to hold her family together.
