Barbara Ann Bettes Martin died on January 25, 2018, in Cincinnati, Ohio, of complications of dementia. Barbara was born in Girard, Ohio to her parents Earl Franklin "Jeff" Bettes and Mildred Driver Bettes on October 13, 1931. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Allen (and Nancy) Martin of Pittsburgh, Steven Richard (and Frances) Martin of Arcata, CA, and Anne M. Martin (and Jeff) Walters of Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as two grandchildren, Catherine Martin (and Gordon) Christopher, and Sarah Martin (and Frank) Cua, and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Carol (and Jim) Kelsey of Greenville, SC. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Richard Elliot Martin, whom she met in Corry, PA before they married and moved to Pittsburgh. A longtime resident of Bethel Park and later Washington County, Barbara and her husband Richard raised and trained many field and show champion golden retrievers and sent their renowned Hyegold puppies to families all over America. The Martins were active members of the Greater Pittsburgh Golden Retriever Club. In later years, Barbara enjoyed sharing her love of goldens by taking her therapy dogs to nursing homes and schools. A memorial service will be planned at a later date. Donations to the Alzheimer's Association (www.act.alz.org) would be gratefully appreciated.
