Barry Lienhart, 78, passed suddenly from complications after surgery on March 19, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Edna Lienhart.
He is survived by Barbara (neé Wunderle) Lienhart, his loving wife of 50 years, his son, Graham Lienhart and daughter-in-law, Lydia Collins.
In his youth, Barry developed a deep love of music, theater and the technical arts as a member of the Walnut Hills Marching Band, YMCA Community Band, Footlighters Theater Company and Cincinnati Music Theater playing in the pit orchestra.
After graduating from Walnut Hills High School in 1961, he received his degree from UC's Ohio College of Applied Science majoring in electrical design and engineering. Fresh out of college in 1964, Barry began his career with Fosdick and Hilmer Consulting Engineers and devoted over 50 years of service to the firm. His designs and systems were utilized all over Cincinnati in places such as Christ Hospital, Music Hall, and Shiloh United Methodist.
In 1969, he met Barbara Wunderle from St. Louis through the Tall Club International social organization. After a courtship that spanned the breadth of the Midwest, he convinced her to be with him in Cincinnati and they were married in 1973. It was also around this time that he and a group of friends formed Theatertech Associates and designed the theater at the College of Mount St. Joseph where he would pursue his passion for the stage for the rest of his life.
He also continued music, playing baritone saxophone with Eddie Love Big Band and Pavillion Music Company. Barry was also a devoted Christian, serving the the Lord and community at Shiloh United Methodist Church for over 30 years.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 12 at 6:30 pm at Shiloh United Methodist with a reception following. Please R.S.V.P. if possible by leaving a message at (513) 244-6128.
