Bennie L. Hart, age 82, of Independence, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. He was born in Corbin, Kentucky on August 8, 1939 to Charles Grover Hart and Joy Mae Goodin Hart Conrad.
Bennie loved his family. He loved nature, and researching his family genealogy. He was a charter member and president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation-Northern Kentucky Chapter and awarded the Free Thinker of the Year in 2020. He became an ordained minister in order to marry individuals who did not follow a particular religious faith. In the 70's Bennie enjoyed racing racecars at Lawrenceburg Speedway and Florence Speedway where he holds the "Altitude Record". He belonged to the local Old Racers Club and Winnebago Club. He was a founding Matco Tool distributor and the first in the Tri-State area. Bennie loved Skyline Chili and won their 50th Anniversary Sweepstakes grand prize. He was very social and could not go out without seeing someone who he knew. You could often find him with a $2 bill that he was famous for giving to children. Bennie's final gift to society was that he donated his body to the University of Cincinnati for research.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Grover Hart, mother, Joy Mae Goodin Hart Conrad, sons, Bennie V. Hart, Michael A. Hart.
Bennie is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Yvonne M. Hart (nee Densford); sons, Robert A. (Pamela L.) Hart, John A. (Mary K.) Hart; grandchildren, Benjamin A. (Maggie J.) Hart, Allison M. Hart, Claire E. Y. (Ian R.) Overberg, Emily M. Hart; great-grandchildren, Aubrie M. Hart, Vivian J. L. Overberg, Jason A. Hart; sisters, Brenda Oaks, Paula S. Lahrmer; brother, Jim (Pam) Conrad; niece, Tami Oaks; and a host of other family members and friends.
