Smith, Betty Joe age 70, of Fairfield Township, Ohio passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2015. She was born in Manchester, Kentucky on May 8, 1945 to John and Rosa York (nee McQueen).
She was preceded in death by her parents, John York and Rosa York. Betty is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Ray Smith; and a host of other family members and friends.
Betty and Ray were married on February 27, 1963 while he was on leave from the Army, stationed in Germany. When he came home Betty chose to leave home and her mother at the tender young age of 17 for the first time and went with her husband, who was still in the Army. They moved 1300 miles away to Colorado, where she was an Army wife and did not get to see her family again for about two years, which was really tough on her.
She was a great cake maker and decorator and was one of the top demo girls at Costco for five years. She had a strong character and deep faith in God. She had many friends whom she loved dearly. If someone needed anything, she was always there. She was a great navigator and back seat driver because she was always yelling, "Watch it Ray!"
In loving memory of Betty, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association. Funeral Ceremony will be 1:30 pm Thursday, June 18, 2015 with a visitation from 1:00 pm until 1:30 pm at Arlington Memorial Gardens Chapel, 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231.
