Bobby Tinsley, age 64, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away Friday, August 18, 2023 after receiving a cancer diagnosis in February 2021. He was surrounded by loved ones during his peaceful transition. Bobby was a man of faith and developed a strong personal relationship with Yahweh. He was a loyal follower throughout his life until his passing.
Bobby was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 16, 1959 to James Lee Tinsley, Sr., and Dorothea Fisher. He was preceded in death by his father, James Lee Tinsley, Sr.; his sister, Catherine Lee (Walter) Arrington; and brother, James Lee Tinsley, Jr.
In 1977, Bobby earned his GED from Cincinnati Job Corps. and immediately entered the workforce. He obtained employment at General Motors in Hamilton, OH working there until the company relocated to Michigan. Following GM, Bobby shifted his professional life to include serving others. He was employed in various positions with Sorta Metro, beginning as a driver, excelling to Supervisor, and earning accolades for demonstrating leadership and Operator of the Month. During this time, he also worked part time for First Student where he had the opportunity to mentor children. Bobby's last place of employment was working for UC Hoxworth collecting blood donations for those in critical need.
Bobby was an avid sports enthusiast. He would often reminisce about playing on the basketball team for his middle school, St. Pius. Bobby was a diehard, lifelong Cincinnati Bengals fan and was either watching or listening to the game every Sunday, no matter if they were winning or losing. Bobby always dedicated time to his family and children doing things like attending live sporting events, fishing, going on local adventures, making homemade pizzas, and having family game nights. In January of 2020, Bobby met the love of his life, Cynthia Colegate, who he blissfully wed in June 2023.
Bobby is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia Tinsley (nee Colegate); his mother, Dorothea Ray; his children, Alicia Marie Tinsley, Tiffany Tiara (Terrance) Tinsley, De'Anna Nicole Tinsley and Jonathan Anthony Garner; his grandchildren, Aniya, G'Sean, G'Von, Korey, TreMar'e, Trenton and Tinsley; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Side Chapel, 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati (45211) from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Private burial services.
