Calvin, 59 was born to Jonnie and Doris Mathews on September 14, 1952 in Greenville, Georgia. He graduated from Princeton High in 1971. He was an avid member of the church that pioneered for local recorded/televised programming of the services. Reverend Dr. Gary G. Hayles was someone whom Calvin enjoyed watching on videotapes and on the internet.
His hobbies and pleasures were music, cooking, remodeling, television, computer repair and watching movies. He also taught himself how to play multiple instruments.
Calvin was preceded in death by his father, Johnie Mathews, sister, Marie Munlin and brother, Lonnie Mathews.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Doris Mathews; a wife, Angela Mathews; six daughters, Catrinna (Steve) Mathews-Jackson, Anetra (Jeff) Crockran, Kathryn (Amie) Mathews, all of Springfield, Ohio and Carisha (Mario) Mathews, Tashianna, Mathews, Lashanda Mathews, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; four sons, Calvin (Mya) Mathews Jr. of Springfield, Ohio, Rashawn (Kaditra) Mathews of Georgia, Calvin Mathews Jr. and Jaloni Mathews od Cincinnati, Ohio; four sisters, Dorothy Tate, Serletta Thomas, Emma (Cornish) Summelin and Rose Tate, four brothers, Robert ( Marynell) Mathews, William (Dollie) Mathews, Larry B. Mathews, Clifford (Carnell) Mathews and a host of grandchildren, family and friends.
