Carole Sue Leslie-Wheeler, 80, passed away on July 27, 2017. She was born to the late Ellen Mae McMullen and Lester Gillespy on August 26, 1936 in Covington, Kentucky. Sue was the beloved wife of 30 years to Roger Wheeler of Cincinnati.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Leslie of San Francisco, son & daughter in law, Chris & Robyn Dow of Wyoming, Ohio, step-daughter, Carla Michalak and step-sons, David & Michael Wheeler of Columbus. Sue was preceded in death by her daughter, LJ Leslie Dow of Cincinnati.
During the course of her life, Sue achieved many things but her most important role was 'Nana'. She was the devoted grandmother of 9 grandkids – Drew, Hope, Reece & Tate Dow, Ben, Emma & Matt Richman, Nicole Melchiorre & Brandon Michalak. We will forever cherish our family memories of Nana Santa, Lake Michigan, bonfires, boxers & string bikinis, charades and so many more hilarious times. Nana will always be remembered for her crazy, wild, and fun-loving approach to life. She was a force to be reckoned with who had a 'tell it like it is' style that only got more funny after a few vodka tonics.
Sue was an accomplished bridge player and a Life Master; an avid gardener who loved working in her yard and nurturing her flowers. She was a wonderful cook whose macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes & gravy, Nana salad, hanky pankys and Christmas cookies will never be forgotten. A loving friend, Sue touched many lives with her honesty, loyalty and laughter.
A celebration of Sue's life will be held on Saturday, August 12, at the Wyoming Golf Club, 81 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Wyoming, Ohio 45215 from 2-4pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Donations be made to the Wyoming School Foundation, 420 Springfield Pike, Wyoming, Ohio, 45215 in memory of Sue Wheeler.
