Carolyn Kay GAtchell of Centerville, Ohio was born June 1, 1944 and passed away peacefully May 27, 2022 after a month of hospitalization. She is preceded in death by her brother Floyd and is survived by her sisters Mary Ann Porter of Hattiesburg, MS and Abigail Woods of Casa Grande, Azand nieces Ana and Alicia Gatchell and nephews Peter Gatchell and Matthew Porter.
Carolyn loved roses and good food. Her favorite pet was her dog Teddy. For over 20 years, Carolyn taught Spanish at Alter High School in Kettering and after retirement tutored a precious little girl. Carolyn was treasurer of a Dayton area rose society for a couple of years. Also after retirement, Carolyn volunteered at the Suicide Prevention Center in Dayton. Carolyn's younger sister, Abby, remembers Carolyn for her kindness and generosity. While outside on a playground as a first grader, Abby was standing in snow and very, very cold. Carolyn left her fourth grade playmates to come to Abby's aid, bundling her in her scarf, coat, hat, gloves and lots of sisterly love. She will be missed.
