Carrie Louise Williams was born on April 2, 1913, in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Rev. BW and Delilah (nee Hicks) Mathis. Upon moving to Cincinnati with her late husband, Carrie completed her high school education at Harriet Beecher Stow High School. She then became employed by the Cincinnati School Board where she worked until her retirement.
She joined church at an early age, and dedicated her life to serving the Lord. She was the oldest member of Metropolitan CME Church in Cincinnati Ohio where she diligently served and attended church every Sunday until illness prevented her just a few months ago. Carrie helped to build the Interdenominational Church Ushers Association of Ohio. She traveled up and down many highways helping to train new Ushers and even serving in various capacities throughout her many years of service. She was a Hall of Fame member of the ICUA.
Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, Harding Williams; her daughter, Carolyn Donnegan; siblings, Lela Story, John "Bo" Hicks and Mary Harris; and her granddaughter, Tina Donnegan.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Charles (Doll) Phillips and Michael (Jolie) Williams; grandchildren, Carole (Maurice) Jarmin, Cheryl (Andrew) Rodgers, Charlotte (Jullian) Robinson, Angela Williams, Shannon Donnegan, Amber Williams, Orlandrea (Eric) Bryson, Michael O. Williams, and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews, and family and friends.
