Catherine Forney Gay

Catherine Forney Gay passed this life on March 6, 2012, at the age of 91, due to complications of a stroke. Catherine was born on November 10, 1920 to Henry Johnson and Louise Hamilton, in Lenoir County, Kinston, North Carolina. She lived her younger years in Kinston.

She achieved her high school diploma in Kinston. She met and married George Forney, Sr. They moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee and eventually they came to Cincinnati, Ohio.

In Cincinnati, she graduated from the School of Cosmetology and worked for many years as a successful beautician in Avondale, Madisonville and Mt. Healthy, where she established her own beauty salon. After retiring in the late 70's she enjoyed raising flowers and working in her garden.

Catherine was well-known in her neighborhood. Everyone she met liked her and looked up to her. She was a good person. She greeted each passerby with a smile and a friendly greeting.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, George Forney (Evelyn), one daughter, Edna Hawkins; grandchildren, Bryan, Terence, Veronica and Glenn; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Katelyn and extended family and friends.
