Charles Lawrence (Budo, Red) Rich, Sr., 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Florence, Kentucky on Saturday, June 13, 2020 after enduring a lengthy fight with cancer. Comfort was provided by St. Elizabeth Hospice and family.
Born August 13, 1935 to his late parents Benjamin Lawrence Rich and Sallie Pink Walton both of Union, Ky. He had one sister Lucy (Ray) Walton. All who proceeded him in death. He had many nieces and nephews.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Irma Francis Rich, and their children: Michael Rich, Charles (Susan) Rich Jr., Lisa Rich (John M.), Joseph Rich; Other children include: Ralph L. (Betty) Simms, Charles L. Stephens, Carol Simms Rodenberg, and Dennis Rae Stephens.
He leaves behind 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and a very loving dog named Carly who was a true companion to him for many years. Many lifelong friends and other family, including highly respected co-workers, proceeded him in death.
He was a lifelong tradesman and a "builder" with a knack for adding special value to everything he touched, especially the lives of the many friends and family who loved him dearly. He was a dedicated provider who was devoted to his work and family.
He was a member of First Church of Christ in Florence Kentucky. Charles retired from the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 105 and was also a member of the Southwest Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters Union Local 698.
Because they were never far apart in life, a visitation and service for both Irma and Charles will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 10:00-11:30am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northern Kentucky Chapel, 4350 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018.
In lieu of flowers, and in memory of Charles, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
