Charletta Hughes

Charletta was born on September 3, 1964 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Walter Lee Hughes and Melvina Marie Hughes. Charletta passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Christ Hospital.

Charletta attended Parham Elementary School and graduated from Withrow High School. She later joined the U.S. Navy where she served for 3 years.

Charletta was baptized at an early age, and joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she remained a member. Charletta was appreciative of every thing anyone did for her and her family by cooking a great meal to show her appreciation. She was a good cook and people came from near and far just to enjoy her cooking.

Charletta also had a passion for reading, if she was not cooking, she would curl up on the couch, read for hours until her children came home. It was then, their time. Even though Charletta was ill for a long time, it did not stop her from helping others.

She is survived by her son, Donta R. Hughes; daughter, Martine B. Williams; brothers, Ralph Smith, Cleon Hughes, Eric Hughes and Ronnie Hughes; sisters, Vickie Hughes and Mildred Hughes, as well as, Penelope Hughes of Lawrenceville, GA., James Hughes, Gerald Hughes and Solomon Hughes. best friend, Annette McClendon; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Charletta Eunice Hughes, age 48 of Cincinnati, will be Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church; 26 West North Bend Road; Cincinnati, Ohio 45216. Rev. Damon Lynch, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in the Landmark Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church; 26 West North Bend Road; Cincinnati, Ohio 45216.
