Charley Columbus Schlicker, age 93, of Springdale, Ohio passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020. He was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on May 9, 1927 to Emil and Mary Schlicker (nee Hustead).
Charley was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during WWII. He was a Mason for over 60 years with the McMicken Lodge, and was a member of the Shriner's. Charley was passionate about woodworking, and after retirement he devoted several hours a day to this hobby.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Schlicker; granddaughter, Gayle Schlicker; and 2 brothers.
Charley is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Thelma Lee Schlicker (nee Liechty); son, Mark Schlicker; daughters, Tanya (Steve) King, Peggy (Henry) Stein, and Leanna Bessey-Schlicker; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Charley to the Shriner's Children Hospital, and/or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Mt. Healthy, from 10:00 to 11:00am. The funeral service will begin at 11:00am at the funeral home with close friend and minister, Kevin Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors at the gravesite.
Charley requested that those in attendance for the gathering and services please dress casually.
