Cherie Erica Sutfield

May 7, 1976 — May 7, 2015

Cherie Erica Sutfield passed away peacefully on May 7, 2015 at the age of 39, surrounded by her loving family. Erica, as she was more known, was born on May 7, 1976 to Charles and Cheryl Holcombe in Memphis, Tennessee.

Our Erica was a beautiful, happy, fun-loving, warm and friendly young woman who loved Jehovah, her husband Casey, her family, especially her 2 nephews, Carlos and Kevin, and her very large group of close friends. Her magnetic personality was well-known, and it drew people to her. She had a smile that would light up a room, an infectious laugh, she loved to entertain, and was a great organizer and planner. Despite her health issues, she always seemed to push herself and out-do her friends and family - especially when it came to shopping!!! We would all sit back and marvel at the energy she seemed to muster just when she needed to.

Erica symbolized her dedication to Jehovah by water baptism on July 4, 1992. All of her life Erica loved Jehovah and her ministry and she was determined to be a part of it regardless of her illnesses. Her favorite scripture was Mark 13:10: "Also, in all the nations, the good news has to be preached first". Even when she couldn't physically knock on doors, she still wanted to share the truth and the hope she had for the future with others, often calling ones on the phone, writing letters, even texting. She never let an opportunity go by without talking to someone about Jehovah. Her example of wanting to never miss a meeting and associate with her brothers and sisters in the faith inspired many.

Affectionately known as "Ree Ree" and "Boss Lady", Erica was the one you talked to when you needed something done, a phone call made, or a letter written. She also loved photography and taking pictures. She was often seen at weddings standing right next to the photographer taking the same pictures they were, and more often than not, Erica's pictures came out better. She was even known to "tactfully" tell the photographer what pictures he was supposed to take.

Erica loved trying out new restaurants and to travel despite her health limitations. The fact that she was willing to visit her friends in other cities, endeared her to so many of them - amazed at what she went through to visit them. But nothing was going to deter "Boss Lady" from seeing her friends. She also loved children, especially babies, and couldn't wait to hold any newborn that came around. She baby-sat many a child over the years, from Memphis to Cincinnati, still maintaining friendships with them as they grew older.

We are all deeply saddened over the loss of Erica. She was a wonderful wife, daughter, sister, aunt and close friend. But we are strengthened by the fact she always maintained her integrity, died a faithful servant of Jehovah, and that He will keep her in his memory. We look forward to the time when we will see Erica again.

Erica is survived by her beloved husband of 10 years, Casey A. Sutfield; father, Charles E. Holcombe; mother, Cheryl E. Holcombe; sister, Camille E. (Kevin) Morrison; sister, Carmen E. (Bruce) McGee; nephew, Carlos E. Ruff; nephew, Kevin M. Morrison; father-in-law, Konni A. (Catherine) Sutfield; sister-in-law, Kimberly M. Sutfield; aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of other family members and friends.
