Chester was born October 23, 1924 in Fairfield, Ohio to parents Gustav Adolph and Florence Echo (Muskopf) Kehr. Chester Kehr passed away Tuesday, July 10th at the age of 87.
They moved to Mt. Healthy where Chester attended and graduated from Mt. Healthy High School in 1943. Chester joined the Boy Scouts at age 11. He went on to achieve Eagle Scout status. His two friends Harold Redden & Kenny Hebbler were schoolmates and severed in WW II, keeping in touch throughout the years. Chester entered the European theater D-Day plus 8 in Normandy. He fought in four campaigns and received five bronze stars, one for an act of personal bravery above and beyond duty, one for each campaign.
After the war Chester married his first wife, Lida Meadows. He worked a short time at Fisher Body General Motors in Fairfield, Ohio. Later he began a career in automotive paint and body work. Eventually he transitioned to a gas station and pony keg located on Colerain Ave. He and Lida lived in Mt. Healthy and Norwood before building a home on a five acre wooded lot on Hughes Rd. in Colerain Township.
Chester and Lida enjoyed Polka dancing, bowling, ice skating and camping. Chester was a member of the Ohio Bee Keeper's Association, supporting three bee hives for many years. Chester thoroughly enjoyed keeping bees and harvesting the honey and honeycomb for family and friends. In the fall of each year, he and the family enjoyed visiting the Ohio State Bee, Swiss cheese, Pumpkin, and Apple festivals. Chester was a member of the Cheviot Lodge No. 140 F. & A.M. Chester loved God's creation and spent many hours' outdoors, gardening, and watching the birds. He found joy in bird watching up to his last day.
Chester attended Pleasant Run Presbyterian Church from 1962 until his death. He held offices of Trustee, Deacon and Elder.
Chester leaves to cherish his memory: son, Allan G.Kehr,(Michele); daughter, Sandra (Kehr) Robinson, (Dan); grandchildren, Alexander D. Robinson, (Liz), Alayna Joy Robinson; nephew, Glenn Egbert (Jean); nieces, Nancy Brookbank (Ron), Darlene Smith, ( Ova).
Chester was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, Lida (Meadows) Kehr and their first child, Linda Ann Kehr. He was also preceded by his second wife, Patricia Kehr of 17 years and three sisters, Thelma (Kehr) Peters, Edith (Kehr) Egbers and Erma (Kehr) Winkler.
