Chris Douglas Roberts

September 1, 1976 — July 18, 2024

Florence

Christian (Chris) Douglas Roberts, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to many gained his heavenly body when God called him home on July 18th, 2024. Knowing his love of quoting movies, Kat said, “Lt. Dan, you got new legs!”

Chris was born on September 1, 1976 to parents Paul (Crystal) Roberts and April Roberts-Traywick. He was the older brother to Adrienne Roberts and Alex (Kyle) Traywick. He was surrounded by many other family members including grandparents, countless uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces. He would tell you all of his family and friends gave him his strength to face every obstacle before him and to build his foundation in faith.

In his later turbulent teen years, he met and fell in love with his wife Brandie (Carr). On their journey back to God, Chris and Brandie were blessed with Katherine (Kat), their daughter. Chris was a proud girl dad and loved Kat from the minute he laid eyes on her.

After Kat was born, Chris began working for Citibank. He gained so many friends and colleagues in the nearly 20 years he worked there. When you ask the family what he did, they couldn’t tell you because there were a lot of abbreviations and spreadsheets involved. Also, he tried hard to leave work behind when the work day was over, so he rarely talked about work after he clocked out.

Chris had many interests including grilling and being out in the sun. He loved to cook for others and have them on his deck. His other two interests took up more of his time, poker and Crossroads Church. He gained and touched the lives of so many in both areas of his life. He loved when they collided into each other. He loved talking about God and inviting people to Crossroads, and when he could do that and play poker, you better believe he was happy.

God may not have blessed Chris with strong muscles, but He did bless him with a strong mind and a generous heart. He shared both of them in quiet ways whenever possible, but never seeking any attention.

It has been said, Chris was the hidden quiet cornerstone of his family and surely many others would agree. Yet he would tell you he was doing his best to reflect God’s love to all he met. His life motto was Matthew 7:12, “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you…”. He wasn’t perfect and he would even tell you he struggled with being judgemental at times. Yet God placed many different people in Chris’ life to show him he didn’t have to be perfect. Every person he interacted with gave Chris a better view of just how great and amazing God’s love really is. If you are reading this, Chris loved you and wants you to remember God loves you even more!

It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later!
