CLARENCE WHITNEY PROSSER, the third child of the late Inez Marie and Thomas Prosser, was born on December 3, 1935 in Georgetown, Ohio. He married Mattie Rose Prosser on September 18, 1965.
CLARENCE was a proud member of the United States Army having enlisted on April 6, 1954 where he served three years.On April 5, 1962, he became a member of the Reserves. He received many accolades and recognitions. Among the medals he received were The National Defense Service Medal, The Sharpshooter (Pistol) Medal, The Good Conduct Medal and The Army of Occupational Medal. While in the Service, Clarence was a boxer. He was honorably discharged on March 20, 1957.
CLARENCE graduated from Hughes Evening Night School on June 9, 1969. While working at Job Core, he attended Trucking School where he was licensed to be an over-the-road truck driver. He drove for Ryder PIE Truck in the 70's and he was the owner/operator in the 80's with Schneider National Trucking Company. He also worked at Veteran's Hospital as an EKG Technician and he worked in the lab for experimental animals.
CLARENCE loved baseball; especially the Cincinnati Reds. In 1974, to stay in shape, he would run 10 to 15 miles every day. He ran until 2006, but he continued to walk. He also enjoyed gardening and boxing.
CLARENCE accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church family on December 13, 2015.
CLARENCE was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Rose Prosser and two siblings, Donald Prosser and Hattie Barrett.
CLARENCE leaves to cherish his memory his children, Jannifer Prayer, James Otis Hamilton Jr., Antoinette (Toni) Prosser, six grandchildren; Latasha Prayer-Collins (Del Rico), Latasha Prayer-Duling (Ethan), Jamie Hamilton, Janai Hamilton, James Hamilton, Madison Whitney Menifee; seven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren (with one on the way); four siblings, Shirley Prosser, Betty Shannon, Donna Prosser, Patricia Lewis (Barry) and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Family and friends may gather at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 40 Coral Avenue, Glendale, Ohio, on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 10:00 to 11:00AM. The funeral service will follow, beginning at 11:00AM at the church with Pastor Teacher Kendall A. Logan officiating. A private Interment will be held at Dayton National Cemetery.
