Cornelia (Cook) Ware was born on July 9, 1933 to Whitelow and Gertrude. Cornelia was reared as part of a large, close knit, extended family in the Pigeon Creek community located in Greenville, Alabama. At a young age she joined St Luke AME, the family church in Greenville. As a young adult she and her mother relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she joined St. Paul AME Church, then located in Walnut Hills. In 1984 she married Elijah B. Ware, who preceded her in death.
Cornelia worked for Frisch's restaurant and later Western Southern Insurance Company. She retired from Western Southern in the late 1980s to care for her ailing mother and husband. She was a devoted and dutiful daughter and wife until their passing in 1992 and 1994 respectively. She worked for a few years at Kenwood Towne Center before leaving the work world entirely.
Cornelia enjoyed Bible Study, family gatherings, entertaining and traveling until her health began to fail in 2011. In December 2012 she moved to Fairfield Pavilion where she thoroughly enjoyed her remaining days. She sang in the choir, played bingo several times a week, attended balls and formal events and danced at every opportunity. She was the "happiest she had been in life." Just recently she began to learn the art of jewelry making. She never complained and was always positive. She possessed a quiet, sweet resolve that drew many to her. Though she will be sorely missed, we can take comfort in the fact that she lived life her to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; a sister, Jeanette Peyton; a brother, Joshua and her beloved uncle, Frank Palmer and aunt, Susie Norman.
She is survived by her devoted step-daughter, Barbara Yarbrough; her loving step-children, Kenneth Ware and his wife Elaine, Bernetta and her husband Dennis Trammell, and Doris White; her cherished niece and nephews, Wanda Coleman, Dudley Coleman and his wife Renee, Kenneth Coleman and Albert Cole; and a host of other family and friends.
