David Henry Heisel, Sr.

David H. Heisel Sr. was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 19, 1932 to Fred Heisel Jr. and Birdie Payton. He was the first child to be born of this union.
David attended schools in Cincinnati, Ohio. He immediately continued his education at the Cincinnati Trade Center, where he studied mechanics and electricity. He was later inducted into the US Army after receiving his letter of enlistment. He served as a Lance Corporal over 200 men, in the mechanic field. He was later discharged from the US Army with an Honorable Discharge with full Pension. He met the late Annie V. Williams, while on leave from the military in 1950, and the couple married in October of that year. There children are: David Henry Heisel Jr., Patricia Ann Heisel, and Carol Heisel to this union. That Marriage dissolved in 1970.

In 1970, he took the late Felice Heisel as his Palimony Partner.

David married the late Mildred nee (Hill) Heisel in 1987. They were both retired and enjoyed traveling.

Upon his discharge from the United States Military. He begin a private practice as a television repair man, and managed his aunt bar ''Shantytown,'' in Walnut Hills. He was the first black man in the community with skills, to turn Black and White televisions, into a Colored television, by adding cellophane. David skills was highly demanded, for his Electrical work, that it landed him a job as a city electrician. Later became a Forman of two city trucks. He prided himself working with the City of Cincinnati, because his trucks were called to restore power to Kent State University after Tornado Helena. David retired from the City of Cincinnati after 25 years of service. After retiring, he worked for 5 years for Jewish Hospital and the American Red Cross as a lab transporter. He later passed it on to his daughter, Patricia who took over.

Fishing and hunting were David's favorite hobbies, which he shared with his son David Jr.

David became entrusted with financial responsibilities at Truth Temple Church of God, under Mother Ellen Coleman. Under Bishop Stephen L. Jasper Sr., Bishop Jasper, described David as a Responsible and Trustworthy man. David and Mildred always gave to their church. Every year around Christmas they would give gifts to all the children. David made a significant contribution to the church by adding ceiling fans, rebuilding the electrical system, and building a disability ramp in the old building.

On Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 4:40 am, David Sr. departed this life peacefully at Hospice.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred of 26 years, parents Fred H. Heisel Jr. & Birdie Boyd, step-parents Arthur Boyd & Oberia T. Heisel, two brothers, Donald Heisel (Edith), Renard Boyd Sr., and granddaughter Johnise Massey.

David leaves to cherish his memory, one son David H. Heisel Jr. (Regina) of West Chester, Ohio; Patricia A. Heisel of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Carol Heisel of Los Angles, California; six grandchildren, Latasha, Donyetta, Patrice, Melisa (Kevin), Julian, Jason (Ashley); nine great-grandchildren Dominic, Dashawn, De'Asia, Jemal, Shannon, Malaeha, Justinn, Alisha, Germaine Jr., Johnny Jr., Ruth; seven great-great grandchildren Zion, Jadom. Braelynn, Amara, Aubrey, Journey and Jaelle; one brother Louis H. Heisel Sr. (Ann) of Mt. Healthy, Ohio; 1 sister Juanetta Boyd of Colerain, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Special Family & Caretakers of David Sr., Jacotta Foree, Andre Griffin. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Ward family.

Family and friends may gather on Monday, November 8, 2021 from 9:00AM to 10:45AM at Newcome Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Mt. Healthy. The funeral service will begin at around 10:45AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Dayton National Cemetery.
