David Mofield, Sr. made his journey home to his Lord & Savior on Friday, January 27, 2023.
"Tinky" as he was affectionately called by his family & friends was born on February 21, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA to the late James and Carol Mofield.
He was educated in the Philadelphia Archdiocese Catholic School System through Jr. High where he also served as an altar boy. He then transferred to the Philadelphia Public School System for High School.
He was employed for over forty years in the Culinary Arts working in the Philadelphia School System, West Chester University, and University of Cincinnati until his retirement.
He had an extensive Military Career the United States Marine Corps where he served his country in Okinawa and Japan.
Being raised by a single mother who wanted the best for her children, relocated from Frankford to Hunting Park where he touched the lives of many, made lasting friendships that lasted well over 50 years, and was willing to bend over backwards to help others as long as they was willing to help themselves.
Coming from a mom who loved to cook, he developed a passion for cooking, He loved music and was a very good dancer. He could run so fast it was like he was flying and got the nickname "Bird". He was highly intelligent and despised ignorance.
He leaves to cherish his memory his 5 children, Shanta Mofield, David Donte Mofield, David Mofield, Jr., Donell Andrews, and Dana Landers Mofield, 8 grandchildren, 1 brother, James "Buster" Mofield, 1 daughter-in-law Selma Mofield, 1 sister Teri Craig Washington, his last surviving Aunt, Helen Stinney, his long-time companion, Darlene Spencer, who was with him to the end, her children Hasanna Tyus, Jameela Benson and Charnell Benson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted relative and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Side Chapel, 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio (45211), from 1:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Services will include Military Honors.
