Celebrating the life and spirit of Dawand Lashon Johnson. Dawand Johnson, 50, of Nashville, TN passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012. She was born in Cincinnati, OH on January 20, 1962 to Sharon Cheatham. She graduated from Forest Park High School in 1980 and received a Bachelors degree in Economics and a Masters degree in Education from the University of Cincinnati. On May 19, 1987 she married Darryl Long with whom she raised their four beautiful children--Jerron DeAyres Long, Iman Tariqa Long, Najla Takreem Long and Nadira Tahsiyn Long. After a brief stint as a math and science teacher in Winton Woods School District, Dawand decided to dedicate herself to raising her children--a pursuit that she placed as top priority in her life.
In 2006, she decided to parlay her personal interest and joy of fitness into a successful personal training business that she aptly named PHYTNATICS. Dawand had a brilliant mind and loved sharing ideas. She was a writer who wrote two books: If You Want to Be Thin and How You Create Your Life.
An avid, lifelong learner, Dawand received her doctorate degree in Metaphysics from the University of Sedona in 2011. At the time of her death, Dawand was studying French and Portuguese as well as metaphysics. She enjoyed drawing, writing, reading, watching movies, exercising, and listening to jazz music.
Dawand was a very passionate person who loved her children fiercely. She was adventurous and enjoyed skydiving, whitewater rafting and zip lining. She was a nurturing and caring daughter, sister, and mother; a loyal and trusted friend; and a loving and supportive companion. Dawand was vivacious; she was energetic and had great enthusiasm for life. She exuded warmth and confidence; her smile could brighten an entire room. She was well loved and will be dearly missed by her children--Jerron, Iman, Najla, and Nadira; her grandchildren--DaeSean, Jaiden, Clay, Journi, and Baby; her husband, Darryl; her daughter-in-law--Tiearra; her mother-Sharon; her siblings-Rene, Kwan, and Andreil; and her many nieces and nephews and close friends.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 4:00 PM at Newcomer Cincinnati (Northwest Chapel), 7830 Hamilton Ave., Mt. Healthy, Ohio 45231
