Bowling, Delbert (Short - Shorty - Shortman) age 82, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky on February 5, 1936 to Monroe and Etta (Little Granny) Bowling (nee Bowling). On June 24, 1995 he married Carol Lieber-Gilliland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, John E. Bowling and Michelle Mae Bowling; siblings, Damien Bowling, Sara "Ophy", Randall Bowling, Oma White, and Wilfred Bowling; grandson, Brandon Bishop; and brother-in-law, Edward C. Gilliland. Delbert is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Carol Bowling (nee Lieber - Gilliland); loving father of Eileen "Ike" Rick Kincannon and Victoria "Vicky" Young; his dear sister, Anna Mae (Wayne) Engle; devoted grandfather of, Jeannie (Jeff) Piatt, Richard "Bubbe" Kincannon, Carrie (Mark) Kincannon, Leo (Amber) Kincannon, Kenny (Sara) Helm, Josh (Trish) Helm, Anthony Helm, Johnny Moore, Danny (Misty) Moore, Tyler Moore, Zachary Bowling, Kenny D. Bowling, Brian Bishop, Britney (Josh) Bishop, and Brandy (Christian) Bishop; his mother-in-law, June E. Gilliland; step-children, James A. Lieber and Linda M. Havlin; step-grandchildren, Alan Cave and his mother, Michelle (Ryan) Cave, Robert "Robbie" Roberts, Rose (Brandon) Adkins, Lucas (June) Reynolds, and Austin Reynolds; great-grandfather to 19; daughters-in-law, Anna Bowling; son-in-law, Rob Bishop; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Gilliland, Rose Bowling, and Cathy S. (Owen) Gordon; niece, Iona Gilliland; nephews, Rick (Lisa) Gilliland and Stephen (Andrea) Gilliland; and a host of other family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 12 noon at the Grace Lutheran Church, 3628 Boudinot Avenue (at Verdin) Cincinnati, Ohio 45211. Interment will follow on Sunday, May 27, 2018 in Kentucky, where he will be laid to rest with his mother and father.
