Don Johnson 68, transitioned from earth to heaven on September 24, 2022, in Columbus, Ohio. He was the husband of Donnetta Johnson and together they shared 41 years of marriage.
Don was born on August 1, 1954, in Cincinnati, Ohio from the blessed union of the late Henry Sr. and Roberta Johnson. He was a proud graduate from Taft High School. Growing up, he was very active. He participated in school plays, played football for Taft, and played baseball for the St. Leo Sluggers Baseball Team. He was one of seven siblings, and grew up in a home full of faith, love, and lots of fun. From the pranks that he and his siblings played on each other to the jokes that he would always tell; he was sure to make you laugh. One thing he didn't play about was his dogs. Not just any dogs; during his childhood and his adulthood there were only German Shepherd's. He took the time to train his dogs in a way that you always knew to be on your best behavior if you were in their presence, and he named them in a way that was sure to get your attention. Kadafi, Black Power, Satan, and now Roxy are just a few names he's chosen. He was gifted in many ways. One of his gifts was his gifted, creative woodworking. He was a carpenter for Wittrock Lumber Co. He was always building and creating unique custom designs from pulpits to kitchen cabinets, to The Children's Museum's decor. He never parked in his garage because it was always a woodworking shop. Don was an active member of Union Baptist Church where he sang in multiple Choirs, served on the Board of Trustees, and was active with the Drama Guild.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of 41yrs; Donnetta Johnson; his four beautiful daughters: Consuelo Connie Montgomery, DonCherie (Jamar Sr.) Henry, Donnita (Dion) Vails, and Donna (Imari) Bradley, seven grandchildren: Jawon Taylor, Jamar Henry Jr, I'mari Henry, Donovan Chambers, Royalty Vails, Kyenes Mincy, Donna Mincy, two sisters; Connie (Johnny) Moon, Tonya (Al) McKenzie, four brothers; Clinton (Phyliss) Johnson, Freddy (Elaine) Johnson, Solomon (Brenda) Johnson, Henry Johnson Jr, and a large group of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives, in-laws, and friends.
