On Monday, February 9, 2015 at 1:59am, Dorthelia N. McClendon, better known as Dorothy, completed her earthly journey. She took her final breath to rest at VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit at The Drake Center. She's awaiting the day the Father calls her to awaken from her sleep.
Dorothy, as many called her, arrived in this world, on Monday, August 6, 1917, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Lewis & Jane Good (nee Jackson). She was the youngest of 13 children. She attended Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary & Jr. High School. From there she went on to graduate from the Old Woodard High School. After graduating, Dorothy became a nurse aide.
Dorothy became a member of the House of God at the age of 43, under the leadership of the late Bishop Fred C. Scott, when the church was located on Central Avenue in downtown Cincinnati. Throughout her 54 years of serving Yahweh in this church, Dorothy wore many hats: Sabbath School teacher, nurse on the Nurse's Guild, an usher, & lastly, a member of the Mother's Board. Until the day of her passing, Dorothy was the oldest member & Mother in Lockland House of God.
Because she lived 97 years, her passing is seen as a rejoicing moment! She will be greatly missed, but her legacy will live on through her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis & Jane Good; daughter Aileen Snell. Dorothy is survived by her beloved children: Florence A. Phillips, Carl N. (Bonita) Powell, George E. (Annie) Powell, Isaac T. (Anthi) Powell, Bennett A. (Cynthia) Powell, Evelyn J. (Femi) Aribigbola, Michael H. (Beverly) Powell, Doretha L.
