E. Quirk McGrath, passed away on March 5th at the age of 89. He was a beloved husband of 65 years of Helene Carroll McGrath. Devoted Father of Carol (Paul) Kovach, David (Andrew Silver) and Molly (Sydney Swetnam) McGrath. Loving Grandfather of Brigid, Nora and Tristan Kovach. Brother to Mary Olive Patrick, Bob (Margaret) McGrath and the late Shirley Ann McGrath and Verna Nestor.
Quirk was a graduate of the University of Detroit and with a Master's degree from Indiana University. He was the President of Business Men's Federal and Buckeye Savings and Loan. He was a Trustee of the Savings and Loan League of Southwest Ohio, the Ohio Savings and Loan League and People Working Co-Operatively. Quirk also served as President of the Archdiocesan Council of the Laity, with Neighborhood Housing Services of Cincinnati and as Lay Director of the Cursillo of Detroit. Quirk enjoyed tennis and was a former State Tennis Doubles Champion for Senior Olympics Ohio. He was a true gentleman and stayed active in his community and church, including initiating a weekly Catholic Mass at Evergreen Retirement Community.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, March 9th at St. James of the Valley Church, Wyoming, Ohio. The family will receive guests at the church beginning at 9:30 am. Mass will be followed by a gathering of friends in the main living room at Evergreen Retirement Community, 230 W. Galbraith Rd.
