Earl L. Greer, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on November 3, 2024 at the age of 86, in Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on July 17, 1938, in Waynesburg, Kentucky, Earl lived a full and meaningful life, dedicated to his family and work.
Earl was known for his career as a truck driver and mechanic, a role in which he thrived through his hard work and dedication. He was a man of great character, remembered for his friendly demeanor and welcoming spirit. Earl was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need and had a unique ability to connect with people from all walks of life. His outgoing nature and love for joking around were hallmarks of his personality, making him a beloved presence in his community.
He had a deep love for his family, which included his wife of 65 years, Edna Greer (nee Daniels), and their children: Donna Carr, Michael Greer, Patricia Shipp, and Phillip (Shannon) Greer. His grandchildren, Wayne Carr, Shane Carr, Brandie Bosworth, Candie Peterson, Mandie Vaughn, Chasity Lewis, Olivia Helvey, and Bella Greer brought him immense joy, alongside eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Earl was also survived by his siblings — sisters LouEllen Wallriven, Alpha Williams, Ann (Gary) Dykes, and Phyllis (Ed) Thompson, and brothers Lawrence Greer, Delbert (Ginger) Greer, Leo (Janet) Greer and Cleo Greer. He is further survived by a host of other family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Edna Greer (nee Oaks), and grandson, Jacob Greer
Earl’s interests included hunting and fishing during his earlier years, as well as a passion for hot rod racing, activities that reflected his adventurous spirit. He also had a passion for spending time in his garden. He will be lovingly remembered for the memories he created with family and friends, his boundless kindness, and his unwavering love for those closest to him.
A visitation will be held on November 8, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:30 PM, both taking place at Newcomer Funeral Home in Erlanger, Kentucky. A graveside service will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill, Kentucky.
