Edith J. Norman

February 14, 1939 — August 30, 2023

Edith Jean Norman was born on February 14th 1939 a "valentine's day baby". She is the second child born from the union of her parents, Dolan and Beulah Norman. Edith was born and raised in the West End and attended Cincinnati Public Schools. After high school, she took a job as a teaching assistant. Many times while in public years later, she would run into one of her former students and they would give her thanks for helping them along the way. One of Edith's many passions was cooking. This sparked her to take a position as a cook for Cincinnati Board of Education. Her talent for cooking was very well known be it professional or domestic for her family and friends.

Edith never met a stranger. She was an avid giver, problem solver and lover of all people. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially sitting on her porch – no one could go past her without checking on Mrs. Edith because of her good nature. Edith would say, "when you give someone something, don't worry about what they do with it". Being a cook, a teacher and giver gave Edith joy, but the ultimate delight of her life was being a mother and a grandmother. Her children recognize her devotion, her attentiveness and care. Each morning Edith would wake up before her children and make their breakfast to start the day. Arriving home before school let out, she would be there with dinner prepped and ready by 2pm. She enjoyed going out to dinner with her family and her favorite food was Skyline Chili. Edith loved the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, sewing, crocheting, decorating, good music and holidays.

Edith is preceded in death by both her parents; her brothers, James Norman and Robert Norman; her son, Michael R. Norman; her sisters, Terri Powell and Lisa Sanders. She will be eternally missed by her children, Beulah D. Norman, Asbury A. Norman and Lamont D. Norman; one sister, Kathy Sanders; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and many family members and friends. No one can fill her shoes and we took no moment with her for granted.
