Edward F Engel, age 85, of Delhi, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 14, 1937 to John and Matilda Engel (nee Barlag).
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brothers, David Engel and Jack (the late Carol) Engel and his sister, Patricia (the late Bob) Klug.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Geraldine E "Jerry" Engel (nee Klug), his children, Kelly (Paul) Dornbusch, Ed Engel and Chris (Carol) Engel. He is the grandfather of Josh Engel and the brother of Mike (Mary) Engel, Jim (Debbie) Engel. He is the brother-in-law of Judy (Dave) Schieber. He is the uncle of several nieces and nephews.
Ed was a Supervisor of Park Maintenance for the Cincinnati Park Board for over 30 years. He was an avid golfer and bowler, enjoying time with his sons and grandson. Ed taught Josh how to play golf, and now Josh serves as the Assistant Pro at Neumann Golf Course. Ed and Jerry enjoyed traveling with the family. Ed was a US Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.
Ed was a dedicated father who spent his free time with his kids, taking them bowling, golfing and camping. This made for great memories while the kids were growing up. His sense of humor made him fun to be around. On Father's Day, or his birthday he never asked for gifts or special dinners. He just wanted all the kids to visit and spend time with him.
For years, Ed would cut lawns after work and still found time to take night classes to finish his degree to provide more for this family. He worked hard and instilled that in his children.
We are all so grateful to have has as much time with him as we did. To say that he will be missed everyday is a huge understatement.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Side Chapel, from 10:30 AM until the funeral service at 12:30 PM. Burial, with Military Honors will follow in New St Joseph Cemetery.
In loving memory of Edward, contributions may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN (38105)
