Eileen C. Igbonegun, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away in her home at the age 72 on Saturday, February 3, 2024. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 16, 1951 to the late Frank and Leslie Vehr (nee Riestenberg).
Eileen was a voracious reader who remembered almost every word she ever heard, read, or thought, and loved to broaden her own knowledge and then share that knowledge with others. She adored nature, hiking and skipping stones, and her favorite place to visit was French Park. She was an avid fan of every artistic endeavor, but her eclectic taste in music might have even surpassed some record executives. If she were able, 'Grandma Kitty Cat' would have rescued every stray feline that ever crossed her path. She loved Volkswagon Beetles (1990 or earlier, only) and used to love driving around in her baby blue Beetle, shifting gears, listening to music, and taking in the world. Eileen was the type of person who would rather go without, so that she could help other women or families who were suffering, and she did it all without expecting any remuneration or praise. She was a bright star in so many people's lives, and her intelligence, joy for life and volunteering spirit will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her younger sister, Carolyn Vehr-Donohoue.
Eileen is survived by her children: Bamidele (Charles) Ferguson, Bolanle (Harry) Brown, Iwa (Christy) Igbonegun, Jr., Omoyeni (Brook) Murdock, Bosede Igbonegun, Ibidapo (Shannon) Igbonegun, Ibikunle (Ericka) Igbonegun, Sr., Ayorinde Igbonegun, Yemisi I. Igbonegun; by her sisters: Mary Alice (Steve) O'Connor, and Leslie Elsbernd; by her grandchildren: Janae, Kamryn, Hunter, Steven, Ibikunle Jr., Hannah, Nicholas, Haley, Eian, Jacob, Oluwakemi, Kana, Iwa III (Nico), Elias, Abisola & Elliot; by her great grandchild: Jordyn; and by a bevy of other cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, fellow volunteers, adopted family, and by her fellow parishioners at Westwood United Methodist Church.
