Elayne Francys Hunter

July 19, 1930 — April 3, 2012

Elayne F. Hunter was born on July 19, 1930 in Bluefield West Virginia to Martha (Thompson) Dickerson Pinkard and Charles Oliver Dickerson, both preceded her in death. She confessed Christ and was baptized at a young age at the Jones Street Christian Church. She departed this life on April 3, 2012.

Elayne grew up in Bluefield West Virginia, with her brother Lacy Lee Dickinson (deceased) where she attended Genoa High School. She kept in close contact with her dear childhood friend, Romona Anderson (who preceded her in death in September 2011).

After graduation, Elayne relocated to Cincinnati, where she met and married the love of her life, William F. Hunter, Jr. To this union were born William lll, Steven, Kim and Kevin. Elayne was affectionately called "mom" and "granny" by many. She loved not only her family, but extended great love to the friends of her children, grandchildren, neighbors, friends and church family. You couldn't help but love her once you met her. Mom was a woman of great wisdom and compassion, which she freely shared, especially with young woman (Titus 2:4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.) This was her God-given ministry. Young women who worked in the hospitals or nursing homes were often found in her room seeking advice on all manner of subjects.

Elayne attended New Life Temple, Madisonville, for many years. Most recently she became a founding member of Omega Christian Center. "Mom Hunter" was a faithful and loving "church mother" of Omega, loved by all.

Cherishing a lifetime of memories are her beloved children William III (Chuckie), Steven Sr. and Kim.; Richard and Billye; Faithful daughters-in law Jacqueline, Tracey, Gwendolyn and Charlene; Devoted grandchildren Ta'Mika Young, Kimber Sprawl and Steven Hunter Jr., loving great-grandson Justin Jr.; dear friend Janet Ventus, and many fond cousins, other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were husband William, brother Lacy, son Kevin, grandson Justin Sr., daughters-in-law Verdell and Cynthia.
