Ernest (Ernie) Williams was born in Williamson, Georgia on September 30, 1936 to Eddie and Eva (Ross) Williams. He moved with his family to Cincinnati, Ohio when he was 12 years old. He met the love of his life, Almareen Byrd in 1959. They wed on July 29, 1961. Out of this union 3 children were born, Jacqueline Bastian (Eliot), Ernest Scott Williams, and Monte B. Williams (Angela).
Ernie was a member of Mt. Olive Holy Temple in Lincoln Heights, Ohio for 25 years. He made the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church his church home 2 years ago; and while he was not able to physically attend services in the last year, he found comfort in listening to the sermons sent to his home by the Mt. Zion family.
Ernie was known for being a hard worker and great provider for his family. His first job was as a paint formulator with Wilson Paints. Next he worked for Kahn's Meats as a meat cutter. He retired as an engineer technician at General Electric. Ernie liked to keep busy and post retirement he worked for Graphael Inc until he retired for the 2nd time at age 73.
Ernie was also great at athletics and enjoyed watching all sports. As a young man Ernie was a competitive baseball player and played with one of the Red's minor league teams as a pitcher. He never realized his dream of being a professional player but spent many years coaching baseball and softball teams and passed this love of the game on to his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed tennis and was a champion bowler.
On September 10, 2014, Ernie passed away peacefully at home after a long illness with the care of family and Hospice. His life will forever be cherished by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Verna Walker, Eddie Williams, Jr., Christine Wagner, John Williams, and Geraldine Riggins. Ernest is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Almareen Williams (nee Byrd); children, Jacqueline A. (Eliot) Bastian, Ernest Scott Williams, and Monte B. (Angela) Williams; grandchildren, Ethan C. Bastian, Evan C. Bastian, Tahir Watson-Williams, Amir M. Williams, and Shirley T.
