Essie Wilkins

September 17, 1942 — July 4, 2012

Essie Wilkins was born on September 17, 1942 in Washington, Georgia to Grace Collier (Norman) and Isiah Baldwin (Deceased). She departed her earthly body on July 4, 2012.

Essie accepted Christ as her Savior in April 1952 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA

Essie attended and graduated from Withrow High School in Cincinnati, OH in 1960. She continued her education and became a LPN. She was also a licensed Realtor.

She worked as a nurse at Jewish Hospital, as a Realtor with Century 21, Cincinnati Job Corps and with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department. She retired from CCAT in 2005.

Essie loved to travel, cook, play bingo and go to the casinos. She also was an avid music lover.

Essie leaves to cherish her memory: her mother Grace Collier; daughters Valerie McQueen-Vance (Freddie), Tonya Burroughs (Johnny); grandchildren, Christopher McQueen, Cameron Luke and Taryn Cash; family pets, China and Buster, along with a host of family and friends.

Essie's loving heart knew no bounds. She was a beautiful woman with a special gift of loving and being very attentive to others. She was an outgoing and friendly person who never met a stranger.

The Lord is my Sheppard; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me on the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou annoitest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever...Amen!

God saw our mother getting tired and a cure
was not to be. So he put his arms around her and
whispered "come with me". With tearful eyes we
watched her suffer, and saw her fade away.
Although we loved our mother dearly, we could not make her
stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.
