Ethel Mae Smoot was born on January 5, 1931 in Cincinnati, OH to the union of Lucille Henderson and Harold Phoenix. Mae was the only child born to this union.
Mae spent a lot of time with her aunts and uncles in Middletown, OH, where she received her education through the Middletown School District.
Mae as she was fondly referred to was devoted to the St. Paul community where she lived for over 20 years. She enjoyed sitting out in the HUT with her friends. She loved being a part of the Resident Council and the Market Day Program at St. Paul Village. We all know MARKET DAY will not be the same without MAE SMOOT! In fact, nothing will be the same without MAE SMOOT.
Mae accepted Jesus Christ as her savior on May 16, 2003 at the New Covenant Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastors lee and Beverley Stevenson.
She retired from Children's Hospital after 25 years of service as an "Instrument Technician".
During her lifetime Mae was married twice. To the union with Edmund Turner , they were blessed with 5 lovely children: Edward Turner, Delores Whitman, Sylvia Dodd, Earlene Eely and Marian Turner. To the union with Edward Smoot, they were blessed with 3 lovely children: Erick Turner, Pierre Smoot and Regina Smoot.
Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Smoot, her daughter, Deloris Whitman and son, Erick Turner.
Mae will be lovingly remembered by many close friends and family. She leaves behind in the hands of the Lord her 6 children: Edward Turner (Stuff), Gregory Whitman, Sylvia Dodd (Pumpkin), Earlene Eely (Raymond), Marian Turner, Pierre Smoot and Regina Smoot, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, best friend/sister, Geneva White (Buddy), Mr. Frank and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family of Ethel Mae Smoot acknowledge with sincere appreciation to those who knew her, walked with her in life, those that experienced and cherished Mae's warmth, friendliness, and most of all her LOVE. We cannot express in words our gratitude to you all that have called and spoken comforting words, given cards, and showed expressions of kindness and giving to help the family during our time of bereavement. We just want to say THANK YOU…May God Bless and keep you All!
