Ezra Everett Wyatt of Lexington, Kentucky passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side at The Willows at Citation on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at the age of 94.
He was born to Moss Dee and Elma Marie (Jones) Wyatt on April 6, 1929 in Cooktown, Kentucky. He married Phyllis Ann Hapner on June 1, 1950, and they enjoyed 72 years together. Everyone grew to know "Pap" over the years by his storytelling of: his youth, his love for his dear wife, Phyllis ("Memaw"), how his family came into the faith he held onto so dearly his entire life, and scary stories about "tailypo." He enjoyed working as a dispatcher in the trucking industry most of his career. Pap will be remembered by these stories, poems and songs he wrote, and jokes told and retold in his kind, deep voice.
Pap was gentle and strong, with a heart of gold—perfectly balanced. He will be remembered as being a pillar in his Godly faith and in his family. He had a love for God, for his beautiful, young Phyllis (forever his "girlfriend"), reading his Bible, and learning different languages. He had a unique ability of playing many musical instruments. In the last year, it wasn't easy for his family to see him lose Memaw, or watch his physical body fail, but he kept his spirit and sense of humor until the end.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Phyllis, brother, Aubrey Eugene Wyatt, and great-grandchildren, Zac Garland and Adeline Kirby. Ezra is survived by his children, Wanda (Stephen) Trebolo, Randall (Esther) Wyatt, and Paul (Karen) Wyatt, seven grandchildren, Adam (Ann) Trebolo, Rachel (Andrew) Taylor, Michelle (JB) Oviatt, Jennifer (Brian) Wargo, Andrew (Sheila) Wyatt, Rebekah (Joel) Crawford, and Lisa (Abraham) Kirby, eight great-grandchildren, sisters, Marjorie Ruth (the late Lloyd) Smith and Charlotte Frances (Jesse) Dean, and a host of other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am with a service to follow at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northern Kentucky Chapel, 4350 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018.
