FLORA ELLEN WALLACE was born on November 27, 1923 to the union of James and Ochia Hopewell in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was the oldest of six children and attended Austin High School. She was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age at Warner Tabernacle AME Zion. She loved singing in the Youth Choir. .
On November 24, 1942 Flora was united in marriage to Chester Wallace and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where they were blessed with five children. Flora worked as a Psychiatric Nurse and after many years she retired from Roman's Psychiatric Hospital (still sane)! After retirement Flora could often be found in her favorite room—the kitchen. She loved to cook and was a gourmet chef in her own way, always cooking up new dishes everyone loved. There were times she even competed with the other chef of the house—her wonderful husband Chester! The two of them always did their grocery shopping together and could often be found riding up and down the aisles of Krogers together on their mobile scooters.
The Lord called Flora home on April 3, 2012. Flora is preceded in death by her Parents James and Ochia Hopewell; Husband Chester Wallace; and four siblings Joan Cannon, Vivian Cowan, Irene Hopewell and James Hopewell. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: Daughter Nancy Jane Stroud, Son James E. Wallace,Son Claude A. (Toni Renee) Wallace, Son Gary (Toni) Wallace, and Daughter Marilyn (Nathaniel) Robinson; Sister Virginia Turner (known to many as Aunt Tootsie); 16 Grandchildren; 31 Great-grandchildren; 8 Great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
