Fred Stapleton, age 82, of Norwood, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. He was born in Pennington Gap, Virginia on August 19, 1938.
Fred was a Veteran of the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired from General Motors after 26 years. He was an avid coin and gun collector. Fred was a member of the Living Word Missionary Baptist Church in Liberty Township. Fred was a great husband and father, and was a generous man. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Stapleton; mothers, Hazel Stapleton, and Ruth Henry; and several brothers and sisters.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Linda A. Stapleton (nee Price); sons, Fred E. (Rita) Stapleton, and Mike Stapleton; grandchildren, Jessie Stapleton, Daniel Stapleton, and Nathan Stapleton; great-grandson, Karter Chesnut; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other family members and friends.
In loving memory of Fred, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Family and friends may gather on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Mt. Healthy, from 12:00PM-1:00PM. The funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 1:00PM. Burial with military honors will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens on Compton Road.
