Gary Johns

April 1, 1945 — October 16, 2022

Gary is survived by his daughter, Julianna Johns, his sister, Sharon Johns Schmick, his niece, Brandie Schmick and his nephews, Timothy and Mark Schmick. Gary's passing wasn't sudden, as a private person he spent his last months with his family.

Gary completed his Doctorate in Business Administration with an emphasis in international finance after an MBA at Xavier University. He spent the first half of his career in industry and the second half as a professor at Mount St. Joseph University in the Business Administration Department. While at Mt. Gary was a proud member of The Royal Order of the Jesters Court 7, the Hanselmann Lodge #208, F&AM, Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite, Syrian Temple of Cincinnati and Shriners International.

Gary had a diverse set of interests that evolved over the years including entertaining, sports, politics and philanthropy. Gary was an alto saxophone player that loved jazz but, had an appreciation for all music. He took pleasure in staying abreast of the political climate and current events, and loved watching college football, specifically Notre Dame! He enjoyed ballroom dancing and frequently joined friends for classes and socials. Cooking for people and creating an atmosphere with specific attention to detail, made his dinner parties lively events with good food and lots of laughter.
