Gavin gained his Angel Wings after a 20-month battle with Brain Cancer. He will forever be 11 years young. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones during that time. Throughout his entire battle he never once shed a tear, stayed positive, and kept a smile on his face even though many odds were against him many of times. Gavin was a true definition of a fighter and by far the strongest person ever. He never showed fear and protected those that he loved.
Many that know Gavin, will tell you that he had a personality beyond this world. He loved smiling and making others laugh and smile. His smile was contagious. He randomly would quote his favorite movies, tell a joke, or play a prank just to get someone in a better mood and smile. He did this until he took his last breath.
Gavin had a love and passion for family. He put family first. He loved making memories and experiencing new places or things. Gatlinburg was one of his favorite destinations to visit as a family. He cherished holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. The Grinch, Home Alone, and Halloweentown were on repeat at home during those holiday months. He had a passion for Soccer which was something he held deeply in his heart. Gavin played Soccer since the age of 2. His dream was to become a Germany National Soccer Player. He enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams which included FC Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Chicago Bulls. He was even able to meet some of his heroes on those teams which he said are the best memories he has made. If you ask some of those players, they will tell you Gavin is their Hero. They seen his light, his smile, and his courage to fight and never give up. It was a beautiful thing.
Some of the things Gavin enjoyed as well were Music, video games, Anime, SML, Cobra Kai, and Skyline Chili. He enjoyed listening to Machine Gun Kelly and Juice Wrld the most. Video games he was advanced in Fortnite playing on his gaming PC and Xbox. If you asked him about his Fortnite account, he had all the "sweaty and OG" skins. Anime shows included Naruto and Hunter X Hunter. Cobra Kai was the fighting spirit in him. Another big favorite show of his was SML on YouTube. Skyline was always a 2-way no cheese. That just was him.
Gavin collected several things and was very proud of it. Pokémon cards and all things Pokémon. He collected hats and shoes and you would always see him match his hats from top down to the bottom of his shoes.
Gavin earned many rewards during his time in school such as student of the month and was always praised by others for being a role model. He was also one to always speak his mind.
There really is never enough space or time to describe how perfect Gavin was. When he left this Earth on 1/26/24, this Earth lost a son, a brother, a grand-son, a cousin, a nephew, a best friend, a hero, a fighter, an idol and a LEGEND.
There will never be another Gavin. He was, is, and will always be a Legend. All of the community, friends, and family will forever shout #GavinStrong and never forget him because #LegendsNeverDie
May you Rest in Heaven and watch over all of us. We love you forever and always, until we meet again, Gavin Carter Raymond Hogie.
