Gaytha M. Surgeon

August 28, 1929 — July 19, 2012

GAYTHA M. SURGEON (nee DELOACH) loving widow of James Surgeon was born August 28, 1929 in Kennedy, Alabama to Sam James and Luberta DeLoach. She was the first of ten children. At an early age Gaytha accepted Christ and was baptized.

Around 1950, she meets and marries James Surgeon and moves to Detroit, Michigan. There she obtained employment at Chrysler and on weekends sang in the night clubs.

In the late sixties, she opened up her home to foster care. Many children passed through her loving home. Five children were adopted into the Surgeon household. Gaytha continued this love by helping to raise her grandchildren, India and Ariel.

After her husband passed away in 1976, Gaytha continued to raise her family. She did not remarry. In 1991, Gaytha moved to Akron, Ohio to care for her mother. She stayed in Akron until May, 2012, when she moved in with her son and daughter-in-law. She became a member of Harac Parech Ministries in June, 2012 until her passing.

Those left to mourn her passing are her son, James (Michelle), Bernice, Gina, Lorenzo (Shakira), Keisha (Gabriel), Crystal (George), India and Ariel, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. She also leaves a brother, Hartford (Maryann) Smith and a sister, Tyna Freeman.
