Gene Montgomery, age 84, of Milford, Ohio passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 20, 1936 to Zachery T. and Lillian M. Montgomery (nee Hoeyman).
Gene was a Veteran of the United States Air Force where he served during the Korean War. He retired from the Cincinnati Enquirer in 1986, and went on to work ten years at Kroger's in Milford. Gene enjoyed traveling with his wife LaVerne, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gene is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, LaVerne Montgomery (nee Banks); children, William (Claudia) Montgomery, Robert (Tricia) Montgomery, Ruth (Clay Hargraves) Senters, and Phil (Donna) Senters, II; grandchildren, William Montgomery, Katelyn Montgomery, William (Diana) Simms, Amanda (Chase) Jones, Phil Senters, III, Seth Davis, Harley Senters, Thomas Montgomery, Till Montgomery, and Maja Montgomery; great-grandchildren, Blake Simms, Addison Simms, Ada Jones, and one on the way; Sister, Joan (George) Daumeyer; and a host of other family members and friends.

Family and friends may gather for a Celebration of Gene's life on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 2:00PM at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 10345 Montgomery Road, Montgomery, Ohio 45242. Gene will be inurned at his family's cemetery, Turner Family Cemetery, in Sebastian's Branch, Kentucky on Sunday, July 18th, 2021.
