George Charles Stewart was born on December 24, 1932 in Ozark, Alabama to the late George "Buck" Stewart and the late Addie Floyd (Gray) Stewart. Prior death of relatives: Daughter-Georgina Mayes; Brothers-Willie "Sterling" Martin, James Stewart; and Sister-Addie Swain.
George spent his early years growing up in Cincinnati's West End and he attended Cincinnati Public Schools.
George had a strong work ethic in which he instilled the importance of hard work into his children. He started his work career with The Cleveland Wrecking Company in 1950. He worked as a Superintendent for Cleveland Wrecking for 45 years before retiring in 1995. After spending a short time in retirement, George got restless and came out of retirement to work as a Foreman for the O'Rourke Wrecking Company. He continued working for O'Rourke until last year when his illnesses began to impede his ability to work. Although he was age 88 when he stopped working, his coworkers often said that he would do the work of 3 men. Many members of the construction community highly respected him and often would seek his advice on completing construction projects.
In his free time, George enjoyed doing projects around his house, repairing vehicles and watching wrestling. He also loved watching cowboy movies and football games on television. George considered his self the BEST in playing cards and loved spending time teaching his children/grandchildren/friends the hard lesson of sitting at the table with him. He always stated while playing cards, "If you see something BETTER than ME, then YOU BUY IT!" George loved spending time with his family!
