George Willie Walton departed this earthly life on the morning of Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Drake Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born to the union of Mr. Toney Walton Sr. and Mrs. Georgie Lee Cartledge Walton in Plumbranch (Edgefield County), South Carolina on June 10, 1935. The Walton family moved from South Carolina to Covington, Kentucky in 1944, where George was educated at Lincoln-Grant School.
After graduating from William Grant High School in Covington in 1955, Mr. Walton enlisted in the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge after four years of service, Mr. Walton moved with his wife and family to Cleveland, Ohio, where he was employed with the Greater Cleveland Transit Authority. Mr. Walton and his family eventually relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he worked for the Cincinnati Metro-Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority until he retired.
George W. Walton confessed Christ at an early age, and in his retirement years became an avid church attendee and evangelist. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Covington, Kentucky. He was also active with the congregations of several other church organizations, while always being prepared to engage with others on the joy of his own salvation, and how the word of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ could influence their lives as well.
Mr. Walton is survived by his wife, Frankie Elaine, his former wife, Loretta E. Walton, and their children; Charles Frederick (Joslyn) of Mission Viejo, California, George William (Virginia) of Cypress, California, Michael Derek (DeEtta), Michele Dionne Walton, and Jean Patrice Fowler (Charles) all of Cincinnati, Ohio. He is also survived by three brothers; James A. (Gwen), Toney (Tara), and Joseph M. (Nancy), and one sister, Martha Walton Mason, all of Cincinnati, Ohio. He also leaves to cherish his loving memory a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
