Gerald Robert Mcnerney
June 16, 1957 — April 15, 2019
Gerald Robert McNerney, 61, of Florence, KY passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019 after courageously battling an illness. Jerry was born on June 16, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio to William D. and L. Jeanine McNerney.
He is survived by his children, Chad Pate(Amanda),Tonia Bohan(John), and grandchildren Alec, C.J., Cristovin, Jayce and Tenley. He is also survived by
siblings, Terry McNerney(Marianne), Sue Jones(Robbie), Leslie Zook(Dana), Tamra McNerney, Jeanine Lynn McNerney, Jo Ann McNerney, Keith McNerney, Mark McNerney(Carolyn) along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers William & Steven McNerney, and nephews Bobby Jones and Keith McNerney, Jr.
Jerry devoted his life to his family, friends, horse racing and the close-knit group that surrounds it. He was a very astute horsemen. Although to some, he had a gruff exterior, his heart was as soft as fleece. He took pleasure in contributing his time on every holiday to assist in providing meals and fellowship to those within the horse racing community. His charming personality was very engaging. He enjoyed making people laugh, singing, cooking, a good card
game, watching sports and occasionally a good debate.
His animated spirit and joy will be remembered and celebrated on Friday, April 19, 2019 at Newcomer Funeral Home at 4350 Dixie Hwy in Erlanger, KY 41018. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm. Services will commence at 2:00pm with a gathering to follow from 3:00-5:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Father Frank's Backstretch Works at 1769 Tanner Road, Hebron, KY 41048.
